Delhi High Court directs DD to file reply on blacklisting BAG Films

Delhi High Court directs DD to file reply on blacklisting BAG FilmsThe Delhi High Court, in a response to the petition filed by Anurradha Prasad's BAG Films & Media Ltd, has served notice to Doordarshan on blacklisting BAG Films.

The court directed to public broadcaster to provide details of sections under which it had blacklisted BAG Films & Media.

The matter will come up for discussion on November 23 in the court as directed by Justice Sanjeev Khanna. However, the broadcaster is required to file reply within the next two weeks. BAG Films alleged that there was no ground for blacklisting, charging Prasar Bharati for acting on an 'arbitrary manner'.

Prasar Bharati, in April, had blacklisted 13 companies for providing blank or repeat tapes under Doordarshan's Short-Term Acquisition Scheme for 2006-07.

However, BAG Films added that it had submitted 52 tapes including two blank CDs to Doordarshan for its bid for two programmes - Dil Ne Dil Se Kaha and Ye Wada Raha on 15 December 2006. It had later also provided details for sending two blank CDs with other tapes.

Other affected firms include Touchstone Communications, Rainbow Films, Astra Productions, Saif Entertainment, Meghna U-Matic Vision, Matrix Entertainment, Magick Works, Vaishnu Films and Bajaj Animation Kendra.
