Delhi Metro's Ridership Hits 16 Lakh MarkFor the first time thus far, Delhi Metro's ridership hit the 16-lakh mark as 16,06,493 travelers took the Metro on Nov 15.

The above statement has been made by an official on Tuesday.

With a major part of Stage II of construction getting over, Delhi Metro ridership is soaring upwards.

A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC) representative said, "Delhi Metro's ridership touched a record 16,06,493 on Monday. Earlier, the ridership had crossed 15 lakh on September 27. The opening of the Central Secretariat to Sarita Vihar section after that on October 3, gave a huge boost to riderships."

On Monday, Line 2 (Central Secretariat to Jehangirpuri) registered the highest ridership at 5,77,370 commuters accompanied by Line 3 at 5,33,302. Line 1 saw the third biggest ridership at 2,85,232 commuters.

The Metro makes more than 2,600 trips on a daily bais from 6 a. m. to 11 p. m., which covers up a network of 156 kilometres crosswise six lines.
