Dell upbeat on India; sees $5 billion sales in China

Dell-LogoUS- based Dell Computers has said that it expects a big market in Asia, particularly from India and China. These two countries are going to be its major markets in the region.

From China alone, the third largest PC maker expects sales of $5 billion during 2010. This was said by the Chief Executive of Dell, Michael Dell during launch of its service business in China.

He further said that Dell would be spending $25 billion in 2010 to form contract with Chinese suppliers and contractors.

He also said, during another interaction, that there are high hopes from India as well.

Dell has shifted from selling services through the use of direct sales personnel and has moved over to going for direct sales to businesses.

For a transformation like this, India will be playing a key role. Talking to the reporters on Tuesday, Michael said that India is important since it is growing faster than China.

At present, India accounts for only 2 per cent of the total revenue generated by Dell and has a market share of 13 per cent. With its new approach, it expects to do better.
