Diabetes monitoring device essential for pets

Diabetes-PetsAs per the glucose-monitoring device it has been stated that in case of humans with diabetes that help treat the case for dogs and other animals.

According to the researcher Charles Wiedmeyer at University of Missouri it was stated that the research helps determine the continuous surge in glucose monitoring devices which come in handy for dogs, cats, cows and horses.

Wiedmeyer who is an assistant professor of clinical pathology in the MU College of Veterinary Medicine added: "Use of this system alleviated the need for multiple blood samples. It also reduces the stress associated with obtaining those samples. This system may provide greater monitoring capabilities in animals with diabetes and promote the diagnostic and research potential of glucose monitoring in veterinary patients."

The device can be located amidst the shoulder blades of an animal and records blood glucose data every five minutes.

It was stated that dogs with diabetes behave similar to children having diabetes, as according to Wiedmeyer.

He further claims that in both the cases caregivers afford to manage their ailments and claims of having less amount of control when they tend to receive insulin. Also, female dogs and some breeds, such as schnauzers and poodles, are more prone to diabetes.

Meanwhile some of the symptoms associated are water consumption, increased urination, or unexplained weight loss.
