Diet with more Processed Foods not good for Health
A novel study has found that consumption of Western diet has been on rise in developing nations. The researchers have affirmed that significant changes have taken place when it comes to nutrition across the world.
David Tilman, professor of Ecology at the University of Minnesota, said they have explored global trends in diet choices and the link between the diets and health. After assessing the details, the researchers have found that with rise in income, people have been choosing those food products that are high in calories.
This is proving taxing for their health and they are becoming more prone to health problems. Tilman said, "We have a whole new group of people who are malnourished because they eat foods that are no good for them, that have no nutritional benefit".
A diet high in processed foods is considered quite negative for health. Ian Myles, from the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that western diet is nothing but overconsumption of over-refined sugars, saturated fats, animal protein and low intake of plant-based fibers.
By having so much processed foods, one can impact its immune system negatively. Also, gut bacteria that plays an important role in health and wellbeing could be affected. There is a need to change diet and include more vegetables and fruits, so that immune system can be restored.
Diet has a big role to play in health of an individual. Therefore, experts have stressed that people should monitor what they are having.
