DMRC All Set To Start Phase III Metro LinesThe Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has planned to implement Phase-III as an underground project so as to avoid the inconvenience on the part of the residence of Delhi who used road as the medium of everyday travelling. The total length of the underground Phase-III metro stations would be equal to the Phase-I and Phase II.

Presently, DMRC had 31 underground metro stations which were spread at a stretch of 40.6 kilometers. Phase-III constituted of 29 underground metro stations which was expected to be 41.04 kilometers long. While the first phase had 13.7 kilometers long underground metro lines and the second phase lines were 39.89 kilometers long.

As per the DMRC Spokesperson, the longest Phase III metro lines were going to connect the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) to Kalkaji on the Janakpuri West Kalindi Kunj covering a distance of 17.28 km. On the other hand, the Mukundpur-Yamuna Vihar corridor was going to have underground lines extending to 14.38 km, the Central Secretariat-Kashmere Gate corridor 9.37 km.

The DMRC officials revealed that they would do all the construction with tunnel boring machines (TBMs) and New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM), and the stations were going to be constructed with the help of cut-and-cover technology.
