Does Your Bra Support Your Breasts Rightly?
The researchers from University of Portsmouth in Hampshire, Engalnd, in a recenct study found that wearing wrong type of bra could damage your breasts.
According to the researchers from Hampshire University's Department of Sports Science, Wearing a wrong type of bra could lead to fragile ligaments becoming streched beyond repair.
Dr. Joanna Scurr and her team conducted the research on 100 women, wherein 50 bra designs were tested during the past three years. It was found that during exercises, the breasts move upto 21cm (8.26 inches), shifting up and down, in and out and from side to side. Interestingly, most bras are designed to limit just vertical movement.
Dr. Wendy hedger, a researcher in Dr. Scarr's team, said, "Most of the women wearing sports bra are very particular about the style of bra they are wearing. They believe that if a bra can't be pulled over their head, then it's not a real sports bra. However, the fact is that there are many sports bras that do up at the back in the same way as a traditional bra and are very helpful in providing support."
Also, about 95 percent women are ignorant or embarrassed about their actual bra size, putting them at risk.
In the end, researchers concluded that women should chose a bra that supports their breasts righly while walking, running or excercising.
