Eagerly awaiting your arrival, Japanese PM tells PM Modi

shinzo-abeNew Delhi, Aug 28 : Responding to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tweet on Thursday, his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe said he was eagerly awaiting the former's arrival in Kyoto.

"India has a special place in my heart, eagerly waiting for your arrival in Kyoto," tweeted Shinzo Abe

"Your first visit to Japan as Indian PM will add new chapter to our strategic partnership," Abe said, adding, "Together we can do a lot for peace and prosperity in the world."

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tweeted in Japanese for the first time, to talk to the people of Japan directly in Japanese. A team of Japanese volunteers helped with the translation.

"On 30th August, I will begin my visit to Japan. I am keenly looking forward to the visit, which will boost relations between our two nations," PM Modi tweeted.

"Japan visit will be my first bilateral visit outside the subcontinent. I was to visit in early July but could not due to Parliament session," he added.

Prime Minister Modi further said, "I see the Japan visit as an opportunity to take our ties with Japan to a new level and increase cooperation in various fields."

He also said "I will visit Tokyo and Kyoto and will interact with all sections of Japanese society from students, political leaders to captains of industry."

Reminiscing about his previous visit to Japan, the Prime Minister said, "Have very warm memories of visiting Japan as a CM. The hospitality and the immense scope for cooperation left a deep impression in my mind, adding, "The scale of innovation and level of precision among the people of Japan is admirable. Both our nations can learn a lot from each other," he tweeted.

He further said, "I am particularly excited to meet PM Abe. I deeply respect his leadership and enjoy a warm relationship with him from previous meetings."

His tweet also spoke about India's time tested friendship with Japan, "Japan's friendship with India is time tested. We are two vibrant democracies committed to advancing peace and prosperity in the world." (ANI)
