Eczema linked to mental disorder

Eczema-ChildEczema or dermatitis is a common skin disease in children amongst the lower age groups and it is believed to cause an influence in mental health, and behavior of children. It is also observed that psychological problems such as abnormalities in behavior, emotional disturbance, were found predominant in the children of age group 10 and below.

This piece of information was exclusively researched by German Academicians on 5991 kids who were born between 1995 and 1998. They were examined for the relation between eczema and the mental health. They consolidated the data of the kids of family history, daily routine, physical health and hygiene and finally their emotional stature. Keeping a tab on family history of ailments they concluded their findings.

It was observed that ones who could not clear their dermatitis problems within a year or two were more prone to having mental instabilities than the infants suffering from the same disease.

It was further explained by, Dr Joachim Heinrich of Helmholtz Zentrum München, of the German Research Centre for Environmental Health that 'eczema can precede and can cause behavioral and psychological problems in children'. It was also found out that the secondary symptoms related to eczema caused more trouble than the primary itself. Allergic disease like hay fever, asthma haunted children later in their teens as well. Therefore, a word of precaution and safety was spread across via this.
