An elephant wrecked havoc at the shooting site of Mani Ratnam's film, 'Ravan'. The shooting was cancelled for the day, but it will be resumed to tomorrow.
'Ravan' stars Vikram, Govinda and Manisha Koirala, besides Abhishek and Aishwarya. The movie is being made in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously.
The elephant named Kunju killed its mahout Aandavan, 51, at Charpa at around 4.50 p. m. It went wild and it was bought under control after midnight, and moved out of the area.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, along with the film crew, left Athirappilly for Ootty around 12 noon.
The animal was shot with a tranquilizer gun on Wednesday around 9.30 p. m. and 10 p. m. The reason why the animal went wild suddenly is not known yet.
Kanichayi Baby, production manager of the film, said: "The film crew and tourists watched the incident. Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, and the director were shifted to an inspection bungalow of the Forest Department. They remained there for a few hours till the commotion that followed the incident died down. Contrary to reports that appeared in the media, no member of the film crew was trapped in the forests."
