Ewan McGregor finds Polanski''s arrest "strange"Washington, Oct 20 : Actor Ewan McGregor has become the latest celeb to join the tirade against the imprisonment of famed filmmaker, Roman Polanski, thirty two years after he sexually assaulted a teenaged girl.

The Rosemary''s Baby director, who had fled the US on the heels of a sentence award, was sent to a Zurich jail last month after he was arrested on an American warrant while in the city to attend a film festival.

Polanski is now battling against his extradition to the US.

Polanski''s arrest has attracted a lot of hue and cry from some of the biggest names in Hollywood, who have expressed their disappointment in the treatment meted out to the Oscar winning director.

And now McGregor, who recently worked with Polanski on The Ghost, has come out in his support.

The 38-year-old McGregor says he''s "pretty upset" to hear of Polanski''s arrest in Switzerland.

Contactmusic quoted him as telling the Los Angeles Times: "I don''t like to think of him sitting in a prison cell."

McGregor thinks it is strange that the Swiss authorities waited for 32 years to nail the director.

He adds: "It seems odd... He''s been living in Switzerland for years and I''ve visited him there, so this is all very strange."

However, McGregor also points out his fondness for Polanski when he sys: "He''s got quite a brusque manner, so you have to have a thick skin. That said, I''m very fond of him. He''s one of the very few completely brilliant directors that I''ve worked with." (ANI)
