Lucknow, Oct 4 : With rains lashing various districts of Uttar Pradesh Sunday, the weatherman predicted more heavy showers in the next few days.

"After creating havoc in Andhra and Karnataka, the low pressure area has moved towards this side of the country and the signs of heavy moisture incursion into the atmosphere will cause good rainfall," meteorological department director J. P. Gupta told IANS.

The rains continued to lash districts like Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad and Kanpur since Saturday.

"After analysing the satellite pictures of the region, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Haryana," Gupta added.

Over 150 people died and over a dozen districts of Karnataka are under water after the region was hit by heavy rains followed by floods in the past few days. According to statistics, such a massive deluge took place about 60 years ago and the officials blamed the persistent presence of cyclonic winds over the Bay of Bengal for the disaster.
