Experts predict more volcanoes, earthquakes due to warmingEnvironmental experts are warning that Global Warming could cause more volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides and tsunamis and other geological events.

A research paper published in the Royal Society says that the rising temperature might cause melting of ice, rise in sea level, heavy storms and rainfall and the earth’s crust could be affected due to these changes. Experts say that minor changes in temperatures could cause earthquakes and tsunamis.

The author of a review, Bill McGuire head of the Benfield Hazard Research Centre at University College London says the melting of ice due to increase in temperature would cause rising sea levels.

Mr. McGuire says, "In relation to anthropogenic climate change, modelling studies and projection of current trends point towards increased risk in relation to a spectrum of geological and geomorphological hazards in a warmer world, while observations suggest that the ongoing rise in global average temperatures may already be eliciting a hazardous response from the geosphere."

The land would rebound if all the ice is to melt causing more earthquakes. More water in the oceans would cause more pressure on the ground increasing earthquakes. They can cause ruptures and seismic shifts.

The other consequences of rising temperatures could be glacial lakes destroying rock dams and flooding in mountain regions along with landslides.

Experts say that they have no evidence of the global warming influencing the recent earth quake in China or the volcanic eruption in Iceland that brought Air travel in Europe to a halt.
