Experts warn over Dangers of Solar Eclipse

On 20th March, people from the United Kingdom will be able to watch near-total solar eclipse. Sky-watchers near the Faroe Islands will be able to see the total eclipse, according to reports. On Friday, the moon will cover about 85% of the sun.

The last total eclipse had hit the British Isles more than 15 years ago. In August 1999, there was a total eclipse that was visible from Cornwall. As the event is going to occur after a long time, it is expected that hundreds of sky- watchers will witness the phenomenon on Friday.

Now, experts have been prompting warnings about the dangers of watching the unusual event without taking much needed precautions. According to them, if people do not take the precautions, then it could result into permanent damage to vision.

According to the reports, children will be especially at risk because they have to start their school day during the eclipse. The experts stated that it could be really dangerous to look directly at the sun. They said that doing so could result in the retina being burned.

As per the reports, the time of eclipse will also vary depending upon the location. In England's capital London, the eclipse will begin at about 8:24 am. At 9:31 am, the eclipse will reach its extent. It will end at about 10:41 am. The eclipse will start in Edinburgh six minutes late at about 8:30 am. Observers can watch it with taking necessary precautions. At 9:35 am, the eclipse will reach its extent.

According to the reports, the last solar eclipse of such significance had occurred on August 11, 1999. At that time, the moon had covered 100% of the sun. It was observed from Cornwall, the reports stated. People from the UK will not be able to see another deep partial eclipse until 2026.
