‘Family Guy’ cartoon banned in Venezuela

‘Family Guy’ cartoon banned in VenezuelaLondon, Sep 28 : Venezuelan authorities have warned TV stations against broadcasting episodes of cult US animation ‘Family Guy’.

Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami said that the show should be banned because it promotes the use of marijuana.

He particularly targeted a recent episode in which a talking dog, called Brian, started a campaign to legalise the drug, reports the BBC.

He said that cable stations refusing to dump the show would be fined.

It is not the first time that President Hugo Chavez’ government has reacted badly to a cartoon.

Last year, The Simpsons was deemed unsuitable for children after officials decided it flouted regulations prohibiting "messages that go against the whole education of boys, girls and adolescents". (ANI)
