Fertiliser Minister Happy With SC Judgment
Minister of State for Fertilizers Srikant Jena on Friday announced that the decision by the Supreme Court on the gas argument between the Ambani brothers has justified the administration position.
"The Supreme Court judgment in the RIL-RNRL dispute has re-affirmed the government's stand that natural gas is a national asset and the government is its legal owner," the minister said.
Jena added that the decision will offer up added stability and predictability to domestic gas rates in India and strengthen investors' trust.
The fertilizer segment will also stand to grow as it already enjoys the top priority in gas allotment.
The administration has allocated around 15 mmscmd of gas from RIL's Krishna-Godavari basin to urea producers.
The country's fertilizer subsidy came up from Rs 12,808 crore in 2001-02 to Rs 57,056 crore during the last fiscal. (With Inputs from Agencies)
