FIFA rankings confirm seedings for World Cup play-offs

Zurich - The seedings for Monday's seeded World Cup play-off draw involving European teams were confirmed Friday following the release of the latest FIFA world rankings.
The four top-ranked teams will be seeded for the draw at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, meaning it will not be possible for France, Portugal, Russia and Greece to be drawn against each other.
Ukraine, Ireland, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovenia will be in the other pot.
The eight teams qualified for the play-offs after finishing second in their qualifying groups. The matches to decide the final four European teams to qualify for the 2010 finals in South Africa take place on November 14 and 18. (dpa)
