Verizon Wireless’ CFO Fran Shammo has said that Apple’s upcoming fifth generation iPhone smartphome is a world phone and will also work in as many countries as AT&T’s iPhone.

While talking about the possibility of a LTE iPhone, he said that it is a bigger issue for Apple than t is for the carrier. Apple reportedly believes that the current chips which support LTE are not yet ready for iOS devices and their integration could interfere with its batter life and design of the devices.

Apple might not be ready to look into new designing for the new standard. The fifth generation iPhone is expected to be called “iPhone 4S”. It is believed that Apple might be planning to streamline its product line and make all of its iPhone dual world phones.

The new iPhone is expected to be launched later this year, around September and it comes after the launch of the white version of iPhone 4.
