First anniversary of 26/11 attacks being observed todayMumbai, Nov 26 : Today is the first anniversary of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, on this occasion prayers and candle-light vigil are being held in Mumbai and various parts of the country to pay homage to the victims.

A memorial for 18 security personnel, including National Security Guards (NSG) commander Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan is to be unveiled by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram here.

A ''Suraksha March'' of police and various security agencies is being organized from Gateway of India to Girgaum Chowpatty.

Mumbai Police will hold a peace flag march in a show of strength from Air India building, passing Nariman Point to Girgaum Chowpatty. The march will also include Force One, the Quick Response Team and armoured vehicles.

Later a memorial function is slated at the Indian Merchant Chambers building for victims.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan will attend this event.

At the Taj and Trident Hotel, a low-key anniversary ceremony for the staff and their families would be held in the evening. One section of the Trident will be kept open for the public to come and light candles.

At 6 p. m. this evening, the Home Minister is scheduled to inaugurate a 26/11 memorial at the Police Gymkhana, Marine Drive. He also expected to visit Nariman House, and pay homage to martyrs at the Gateway of India. (ANI)
