Foreign trio in race for Datacom buyout

Datacom-SolutionsUS telecom giant AT&T, France's Vivendi and Spain's leading telecommunication firm Telefonica are expected to be the possible buyers of Datacom. As per sources, the trio may go for a 26% buy out in the Videocon promoted Datacom.

Chief of Videocon, Mr. Venugopal Dhoot has recently informed the media on such buy out. He has also said that several foreign companies are looking forward to take a stake in the company but the company has decided to dilute the stake, not more than 26%.

According to sources, the officials from all three companies have discussed with Datacom to get a stake in the mobile venture.

However, Dhoot has denied commenting on this purchase right now. Rather, he has revealed that as soon as he will receive a good valuation the stock dilution, he will take it to grant immediately.

Earlier UAE's Etisalat and Turkish telecom firm Turkcell were also interested to take a stake in the Indian firm but Videocon had turned it down due to the lower valuations during the financial crisis.
