Four-laning of NH-22 needs Rs.2,730 crore: Virbhadra

Virbhadra-SinghShimla, March 12 : The four-laning of National Highway 22 between Parwanoo and Shimla will cost Rs. 2,730 crore, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said here Tuesday.

The construction work to be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), likely to start in February 2014, would be completed within three years, he said in a written reply in the assembly.

However, he said, no funds have been sanctioned by the central government so far for the project.

While widening the 88-km stretch, Singh said the distance between both the towns would be shortened by 17 km.

A total of 16 bridges, including five over the Kalka-Shimla rail track would be constructed.

The chief minister said the project required acquisition of 105 hectares of forest land and 101 hectares of private land. (IANS)
