Tokyo  - Tokyo stocks edged up Wednesday but gains were capped as investors stayed cautious as major companies were to issue their second-quarter and half-year earnings reports.

The key Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose 17.65 points, or 0.17 per cent, to 10,104.91, and the broader-based Topix index was almost unchanged at 930.17.

On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 94.41-44 yen, down from Tuesday's 5 pm quote of 95.16-19 yen.

The euro traded at 1.4145-50 dollars, down from late Tuesday's quote of 1.4283-86 dollars, and at 133.55-60 yen, down from 135.94-98 yen. (dpa)
