GE India gets “Validated End User” authorization from United StatesThe subsidiary of General Electric Company of United States – General Electric India or GE India has got Validated End User (VEU) authorization from the US department of commerce. With the US authorization, the GE India has been permitted license-free exports of US export-controlled technology.

The US Commerce Secretary Gary Locke has confirmed that GE India has got the validated end-user (VEU) status; the company is allowed to receive certain controlled US technology, such as civilian aircraft technology and explosive detection equipment.

Locke has told that GE India has got the VEU authorization under the VEU programme designed to facilitates the flow of trade between United States and India. He has affirmed that GE India will be eligible to the VEU status later this month after the regulation is published in the Federal Register.

Locke has encouraged other Indian companies to benefits of the VEU programme, which is administered by the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security, and implemented by an inter-agency committee of representatives from the Departments of Commerce, State, Defence, Energy, and Treasury.
