Hong Kong  - A love-struck German student has been deported from Lhasa after dodging a ban on foreigners to visit his Tibetan girlfriend, a news report said Saturday.

Tillman Blimke, 22, who is studying in Beijing, slipped into Tibet a month ago with the help of friends to be reunited with a girlfriend in Shannan south of Lhasa whom he fell for on a previous visit, the South China Morning Post reported.

Despite a blanket ban on foreigners entering Tibet ahead of the 50th anniversary last week of the Dalai Lama's flight, and Saturday's first anniversary of the 2008 riots, Blimke managed to travel extensively across Tibet, the newspaper said.

Zamboanga City, Philippines  - Three public school teachers were seized by unidentified gunmen in the southern Philippines, the latest in a string of kidnapping in the area, a military spokeswoman said Saturday.

First Lieutenant Esteffani Cacho said the teachers were riding a motorized boat when gunmen in another boat seized them off Naga town in Zamboanga Sibugay province, 990 kilometres south of Manila, Friday afternoon.

"The navy has already deployed ships for possible maritime interjection," she said.

Manila  - The Philippine police force has formed dedicated teams to track down suspects in the killings of journalists as part of an effort to end unabated attacks on media representatives, a spokesman said Friday.

Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome said national police chief Director General Jesus Verzosa instructed a police task force to supervise the manhunts for suspects in media killings.

Amsterdam - The chief suspect in a Mafia hit one and a half years ago at a German pizzeria has been arrested in the Netherlands, police said Friday.

Giovanni Strangio, 30, was taken into custody late Thursday in Amsterdam, said police in Duisburg, the western German city where the six murders took place in August 2007.

Strangio's brother-in-law, who was also accused in the murders of members of a rival clan in the southern Italian criminal organization 'Ndrangheta, was arrested in November, also in Amsterdam.

Hong Kong  - A Hong Kong mother whose infant daughter died after being left alone in the care of her 8-year-old sister on Friday began a two-year jail term.

Man Ching-yee, 29, who was out at a bar when her 3-month-old daughter died, was told by Judge Joseph Yau that she treated her children "worse than animals."

The infant, found bleeding from the nose and mouth and diagnosed as dying of infant death syndrome, had been left in the care of the woman's oldest daughter.

Hong Kong - Wild monkeys in Hong Kong are being hunted and killed in a trade that might be supplying restaurants in China specializing in exotic cuisine, a news report said Friday.

The discovery of the remains of a butchered monkey found in a country park in the city of 9 million has set off a police hunt for poachers hunting the primates, the Hong Kong Standard said.
