Gold loses steam, down from life-time high
Prices of gold in Delhi eased from record levels on Friday due to lack of buying support. The yellow metal dropped Rs. 105 to Rs. 19,300 per 10 grams.
Earlier, on Thursday, gold climbed up to set a new high of Rs. 19,405 per 10 grams before the market closed on account of Janmastami. Thursday's price was the precious metal's life-time high. However, after the market opened today, gold barely found any buyer at the particular level and tumbled. The value at the international markets also could not help it much to sustain at that price level.
In the international market, gold rose only two during the day's trade. The rise was more due to the fact that many investors diverted their funds to gold on speculations of slower recovery of the world economy.
On the other hand, silver rallied on Friday to one year high of Rs. 31,150 per kg. As per experts, rise in silver was mostly due to increased industrial demand. Silver coins also headed north to close at Rs. 35,000 for buying and Rs. 35,100 for selling due to higher buying for the upcoming festival season.
