Goldman Sachs acquires Benchmark AMC
Recently, there has been an announcement made by the Goldman Sachs Asset Management that it has given the approval to acquire Benchmark Asset Management Company. AMC is the leading asset management company in India.
It is expected that the transaction will be closed later in the year; subject to regulatory approvals. The terms and the conditions of the transaction are yet to be revealed.
In the year 2001, the Benchmark Asset Management Company was incorporated. Benchmark Asset Management Company is a leading Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) provider in India both by market share and assets under management (AUM). The total value of the firm will be around $700 million AUM.
Moreover, the Goldman Sachs Asset Management has planned to launch it actively after managing the grounded funds to India. To do work more efficiently Goldman Sachs Asset Management has made its team in Mumbai comprising eight members. Prashant Khemka is leader in the team. At present the team is researching for off-shore funds which included Indian equities and BRIC equities.
