Good news for TB patients in Haryana

Bhupinder-Singh-HoodaChief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda is proud to announce that Haryana is all set to be -TB Free State. Mr. Hooda said that Haryana has achieved third position in providing free second line treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) after Maharashtra and Gujarat.

He brought in to the picture, the initiatives to wipe out the disease and informed that Revised National Tuberculosis Control (RNTC) programme will be implemented to shrink the mortality rate and curtail the transmission of TB.

He indicates his conquest over this disease by implementing a short tem course Directly Observed Treatment Strategy (DOTS), with the help of this course we can detect TB at an early stage and we can provide timely treatment to the patients to avoid mortality.

He made an announcement on the World TB Day, "We have reached the path of success but yet to achieve victory"

He further told that our victory was to accomplish TB-related Millennium Development Goal (MDG).

Haryana Health Minister Geeta Bhukkal said that, all the 3 medical colleges in Haryana are also participating in this venture of making Haryana- TB Free State; all the colleges are working towards implementing RNTCP. She also said that all the patients who are suffering from this infection and falls in the category of six to eight months treatment, will be given medicines and microscopic test free of cost by the State Government.
