Google Street View, an alluring mapping scheme

Google-Street-ViewThe new platform from Google, Street View, a technology featured on Google Maps intending to provide a clear view of the streets from various positions, was released in UK today.

The feature allows an onlooker to view and explore 360 degree street-level imagery of more than 238,000 miles of roads, the company said.

The search engine's Geospatial Technologist Ed Parsons said on the occasion that this technology would raise mapping to a higher level. He further added that this new technology would have a wide usage in planning of road trips, house-hunt or reaching to meeting destinations etc.

However, the bad things is that designed to have a clear view of the popular B&Bs and restaurants, the technology may just end up providing clue to the rogues who can plan their thefts accordingly.

To deal with the situation Google has provided the option of privacy safeguards, which includes face and car number plate blurring. It also has given the option to have your home removed from the system completely.
