Government on its way to mend Jairam’s Mistake

Government on its way to mend Jairam’s MistakeAfter a lot of hue and cry over the biotechnology being used for brinjal, the PM Manmohan Singh has finally taken a stand and confronted the nation on the issue. Dr. Manmohan Singh has clearly not underestimated the importance of biotechnology for the productivity and food security purposes and has called in for private investors, if they are interested for trying their luck at biotechnology.

Earlier, Environment minister Jairam Ramesh had taken a negative stand on this issue and had pushed aside the importance of BT brinjal. The UPA government has now thought of ways to deal with it and has taken its first step to mend its mistake. The prime minister had met Jairam Ramesh with Sharad Pawar, the agriculture minister, the HRD minister Kapil Sibal along with Prithviraj Chavan who is the minister for Science and Technology.

Earlier also, all the ministers had disapproved of Ramesh's stand on freezing the BT Brinjal issue and Sharad Pawar had even written a letter to the PM stating that the freeze could demoralize the Indian scientists.
