The ongoing construction and earthwork to protect the Great Barrier Reef is damaging the wetland. According to the authority of Queensland the heavy impact earthworks in the catchment of reef's wetlands will now be scrutinized. This has to done with proper with proper planning and development and to be executed well as per the plan.
All these activities like leveling, filling and construction of channels are to be supervised properly. This is done from Bundaberg to wet tropics water effect of the reef. The Environment Minister Kate Jones has said that it will be protected by putting some extra effort.
According to Government landmark legislation, the amount of damaging farm water flowing into the reef has been reduced. Due to improved planning the situation is going to be under control. The wet lands are a kind of kidneys to the reef and without that it can't survive.
There are about 4500 number of wetlands in that periphery. The experts are also suggesting that there should be a proper plan to protect the Great Barrier Reef from destruction.
