London, Jul 3 : Italian born actress Greta Scacchi, who posed naked with a cod as part of a campaign to save the world's fish stocks, has said that it takes a celebrity to get the Government to take notice of a cause.
Scacchi, 49, was left bemused to have been invited to talks at the Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs with Huw Irranca-Davies, the Environment Minister, as the Marine Bill makes its way through Parliament.
"A part of me has to take a step back and say that while it is wonderful to be given this kind of access it does say something about the state of our democracy that it takes a so-called celebrity such as myself to get coverage for a cause and for the Government to sit up and take notice," the Telegraph quoted her as saying.
The actress, who was accompanied by Charles Clover, who produced the documentary `The End of the Line', warning about the threat to fish, said that the meeting with Irranca-Davies was "constructive and helpful". (ANI)
