Hamas leaders head for talks in Cairo Gaza/Cairo  - High-ranking members of the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas began arriving in Egypt on Thursday for a continuation of consultations to revive inter-Palestinian dialogue.

A delegation headed by senior Gaza Strip Hamas leader Kahlil al-Hayya arrived in Cairo on Thursday to hold talks with senior Egyptian officials.

Another Hamas delegation led from Syria by Khaled Mashaal, Hamas' politburo chief, is to arrive in Egypt on Saturday.

Ayman Taha, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, told reporters that Hamas leaders will hold talks with senior Egyptian security intelligence officials, adding "they will prepare for the coming round of dialogue with the Fatah movement."

Topics for discussion will also include a possible exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel.

Feuds between Hamas and its secular Palestinian rival Fatah mounted after Hamas militants seized control of the Gaza Strip in June 2007, and ousted the security forces of moderate President Mahmoud Abbas. dpa
