Hero Honda to finalise its fourth unit by September

Hero-Honda-LogoWhile the company is enjoying its best growth phase ever, Hero Honda, the world's biggest two-wheeler market in volumes for nine consecutive years, the company believes that it will take them another six months before it finalises on the state where it want to open its fourth unit.

The company is still in the phase of conducting a feasibility study out of its 10 options; indications are that Karnataka, Rajasthan and Gujarat are among the more favoured options. Currently, the two-wheeler maker has three plants in North India - out of which two are in the Gurgaon region and the third in Haridwar, capable of producing around five million units in a year.

However, with the company filing record sales month after month and as the sales figure come close to the total capacity, the though about the fourth plant is obvious.

While a team from Hero Honda met the government officials for the Karnataka state, it has been noticed that the company separately owns a land bank of 250 acres in Jaipur, Rajasthan, which was purchased in 2005, which according to Pawan Munjal, MD, Hero Honda Motors can also be considered as an option.
