The horror behind the Games

The horror behind the GamesIn front of the heat over the Commonwealth Games mess, Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy has now asked his ministry to critically consider action against Delhi Development Authority (DDA) officials for not supervising Emaar-MGF's work accurately in the construction of the Games Village.

It was told by top government sources that the sharp edge may fall on the top self-confidence of the DDA in favor of the Games Village confusion.

Although the fact those ministry officials are yet to compact up the procession of action, they could give the impression of being at economic price as well as disciplinary dealings, as well as suspension, in favor of "negligence of duty".

Sources said Reddy has told ministry officials that while his "conscience is clear"; he cannot give permission the DDA officials who were responsible for supervising the assignment go "scot-free". Reddy's order follows the growing scream aligned with the Urban Development Ministry, under whose jurisdiction the DDA falls.

This also comes on a day when the ministry asked the DDA to take possession of the Rs 183-crore bank assurance deposited by Emaar-MGF and also instigate legal proceedings against the Dubai-based private developer. Today in a letter this was conveyed to DDA's vice-chairman Ashok Kumar Nigam by Under Secretary P T James Kutty, (no. 3388/DDR/2007/ DDVI).
