Huawei Technologies registers worldwide sale of 60 million mobile broadband unitsHuawei Technologies, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has announced that company has registered a worldwide sale of over 60 million units including data cards and embedded modules.

According to the China based company, around 315 international telecom service providers operating in more than 133 countries have purchased the mobile broadband units. The major telecom clients for Huawei include Vodafone, Telefonica, T-Mobile, Orange, Hutchison and Emobile.

Glory Cheung, spokesperson of Huawei Device, said that the achievement has shown that how well Huawei understand the needs of telecom operators.

In the recent years, Huawei has moved its focus from external data cards to embedded modules for notebooks and netbooks.

At the Mobile World Congress 2009, the company has demonstrated the world’s slimmest wireless modem, E5, and also unveiled the world’s first HSPA plus mobile broadband, E182E.

According to a latest report from a consulting firm ABI Research, Huawei is leading the global mobile broadband terminal market with a market share of 55%. The data also estimated that the sales of mobile broadband units would go up to 230 million units in 2013 as against 13.8 million units in 2009.

In 2009, Huawei demonstrated the world’s slimmest wireless modem, E5, at the Mobile World Congress 2009 and released the E182E, the world’s first HSPA+ mobile broadband.
