I''m ‘Jimmy’ for my family and friends, says Rooney

I''m ‘Jimmy’ for my family and friends, says RooneyLondon, Oct 5 : England striker Wayne Rooney has millions of fans around the world, who call him by several nicknames like Wazza, Super Roo, Roonaldo. Some fans even call him God, but his friends back in Liverpool prefer to call him by "Jimmy".

Rooney has revealed that he knows he''''s back home when he hears that name.

"When I''''m back home with my family and friends, I''''m just Jimmy. I''''ve been called it since I was about ten and still do to this day. It''''s rarely Wayne," The Sun quoted Rooney, as saying.

"It''''s after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. He used to do a cartwheel when he scored. I did it once when I was a kid and since then I''''ve always been Jimmy. It''''s just stuck," he added.

Rooney further said all the fame that he has achieved by playing for England and Manchester United has not affected his lifestyle, as he still lives a pretty normal life.

"I try not to think of the fame thing, to be honest. I still feel like a very normal guy. I do pretty normal things. Coleen and me try and keep a pretty low profile, try to live as normal a life as possible. We can still go out for the odd pizza but then sometimes we get followed a bit by photographers," Rooney said.

"But, I go back to Liverpool a lot to see me friends and family and I don''''t really get any bother there. There''''s no special treatment when I go back there, which I like. It''''s just me and me mates. I wouldn''''t change playing football for a living for anything in the world, and the fame is part of that. I''''ve got to live with that, so I just try not to think about it too much," he added. (ANI)
