Increase in hospitalization rate of malnourished pensioners in the UKAccording to a new report, the rate of malnourished pensioners hospitalized has increased by 50 per cent in just five years.

During the last 12 months, the number of those who need treatment increased 14 per cent. The patients not need care from hospital every week as most of the victims are above the age of 60. The figures show a gr scenario of elderly care in the UK.

What is worse is that experts believe that factors live rising fuel and food bills and Granny Tax raid on pensioners might result in a further increase in the rate. According to official figures, 531 people were admitted to hospital with malnutrition in 2010-11, which is 47 per cent higher than 362 patients in 2006-07.

There were a total of 2,127 hospital admissions for malnutrition between 2006-07 and 2010-11. The figures show that the most common age is between 60 and 69. During 2010-11, there were 99 cases in this age group - followed by
92 aged between 50 and 59.

Te figures also showed that there were another 20 cases among children up to the age of nine, and 32 among children between the ages of 10 and 19. There were a further 20 cases among children up to the age of nine, and 32 among children between the ages of 10 and 19.
