India bags 21 medals in Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship

India bags 21 medals in Asian Cadet Wrestling ChampionshipIndian grapplers bagged 21 medals, including nine gold medals in the recently concluded Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship in Pune. The tournament was held from 29th July to 2nd August and players from 22 countries participated in various events of the tournament.

India won 9 medals including five gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal in the men's free style event. Deepak bagged gold medal in 50 kg weight category and Harphool won gold medal in 54 kg category.

While Anil, Sumit and Rajesh won gold medals in 58kg, 69 kg and 76 kg categories respectively. Indian female wrestlers also dominated in the tournament and they won 9 medals which include four gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Sanju Jakhar (38 kg), Ritu (40 kg), Vinesh (43 kg) and Priyanka (49 kg) won gold medals in their respective weight categories.

India teams also won team championship in both men free style and female wrestling.

However, in Greco Roman style, India finished at the fourth spot in overall team championship with four silver medals.
