India to join hands with Argentina for Silo technology

Grain-Silo-TechnologyAfter it was found that millions of tons of food grain were lost because of rotting in Indian warehouses for the lack of proper technologies, the government had decided to take some step.

India will be joining hands with Argentina for developing a new technology for warehousing and also to be able to access the existing ones in the South American nation.

This information was given by the Food and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. After meeting with his counterpart from Argentinean, Julian Andres Dominguez Pawar said that good technologies are present in the field of silos and warehouses. They are economical and can be very beneficial to India. Argentina has hold of these and that is what Indian looking forward to.

As of now, there is a shortfall of 15 million tones of storage capacity. The situation was worsened because of bumper procurement in wheat and rice in the last two years.

Pawar further added, "We have conveyed the Minister that we have produced more food grains in India for the last two years... We are facing a gap in storage capacity. To fill this gap, we are in search of good technology."
