The Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT) and the Canadian University, University of Saskatchewa have come together and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), for working for the food processing sector.
The two shall work in partnership in the field of research and development. Training the students is also a part of the deal. Faculty and student exchange programs will also take place between the two varsities.
The contract was signed between IICPT Director K. Alagasundaram and Venkatesh Meda, professor of bioprocess engineering at the Canadian university. The signing ceremony was orgainsed in front of the media in which Subodh Kant Shahi, the Food Processing Minister of India took part along with many delegates from Canada.
Talking to the media, the minister said that the MoU shall help not only in the food processing sector but also in the post-harvest crops. The deal has been signed keeping in mind the technological know-how and the research between the two nations.
He further added that with this presently 150 business houses will get benefited. The number is sure to increase even more in the coming times.
