Indian players leave for IFA shield

Indian players leave for IFA shieldIndian football team players left for Kolkata today in the morning to participate in the IFA shield from their respective clubs. Indian football team coach Bob Houghton was astonished by this news as Indian team had won the Nehru cup title yesterday and today they traveled to participate in the IFA shield without taking any rest.

Bob admitted that it reflects poor management and professionalism of Indian football association. He added that the Indian players have just played in the international tournament and now they would have to participate in a domestic tournament without taking any break.

Indian team had successfully defended Nehru Cup after defeating Syria in the final match on Monday. This was second time they had won the Nehru Cup title as they had won this title in 2007 also.

Indian team performance improved after Nehru Cup in 2007 as they won 15 matches out of 25 matches they played after that tournament. Five matches out of these ended in a draw while they lost only five matches.
