In a shocking development, a four month old boy died in an incubator in Allahabad hospital.

The incident took place on Saturday the 2nd May 09 at a private hospital named as Jagriti Hospital. The boy was kept in phototherapy incubators for treatment of congenital jaundice.

The boy named Divyansh, was suffering from diarrhoea. He was admitted on Friday evening.

In his complaint, boy's father said, "The doctors said he will be kept in an incubator and will also be administered phototherapy as he was having problems in breathing. However, the nurse forgot to switch off the unit Friday night and Divyansh was found dead Saturday afternoon."

According to the hospital sources the nurse allegedly forgot to turn off a phototherapy unit.

Meanwhile, police inspector R. K. Singh said that the police had started the investigation. He said that the police are looking into the complaint about poor maintenance of the incubators. However, no arrests have been made so far by the police.
