Investigation on Kobad Ghandy complete, police tell court

KobadGhandyNew Delhi, Dec 14 : Police Monday informed the Delhi High Court that the probe into Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) leader Kobad Ghandy's alleged anti-national activities is complete.

Justice Indermeet Kaur gave Delhi Police four weeks' time to file the investigation report and restrained it form conducting narco-analysis test on the 63-year-old Ghandy till further orders. The judge posted the case for February 1, 2010.

The court Nov 5 ordered police not to conduct narco test on Ghandy.

The court passed the order after Ghandy's counsel said until and unless the constitutional validity of narco test is decided by the Supreme Court, an accused cannot be forced to undergo such a test.

A trial court Oct 31 allowed conduct of the test on the top Maoist leader.

Ghandy, arrested in the capital Sep 20, has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.(IANS)
