Munich  - Italian guests are likely to find the beer at this year's Oktoberfest fair in Munich pleasantly cheap, a company which has compared world beer prices said in Munich Thursday.

Beer companies plan to charge 8.10 to 8.60 euros for a one-litre mug in the beer tents at the event, which begins September 19. That is 13 per cent less than the average beer price in Italy, said ECA International.

Adverse exchange rates mean tourists from other nations will not be so delighted, the recruitment company said, quoting a cost-of-living index it issued back in March.

For South Africans, the price of beer in Munich will be three times as high as at home.(dpa)
