Junior Doctors strike enters 5th day in Bihar
Medical services in two major hospitals of Bihar continued to be affected with the junior doctors’ strike entering its fifth day.
Over 800 junior doctors of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH) are on strike demanding introduction of salary system instead of stipends.
As a result, the situation in these hospitals is deteriorating day by day.
A government official said that over six patients have died in the last 24 hours alone (Sunday-Monday) due to lack of doctors and treatment in the hospital.
However, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made it clear that that the state government would not remain silent on the strike.
Speaking with the media persons on this issue, Kumar said: “The timing of the strike is completely wrong and anti-people. It should have been amicably resolved, instead of resorting to a stir.”
Apart from the CM, the patients too had criticized the doctors to turn a blind eye and deaf ears to their miseries by not attending to the ailing persons.
