Just Sidhi baat
While it’s still a few hours for Sid to wake up on the box-office, Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the lead in the today’s release, Wake Up Sid is wide awake, thanks to the good rushes it’s got so far. “My parents loved it, and others close to me have appreciated it,” says Kapoor, who is sure the “film will find its audience.” That said, he does confess he’s unable to judge his own work “as I lose objectivity.”
Ranbir discloses that it was he who suggested the title, Wake Up Sid, when director Ayan Mukherji narrated the script to him. “I uttered these three words right after listening to the script without really thinking about it too mcuh,” he says. And it was a hit with Ayaan and Karan Johar.
Ranbir confesses that, like Sid, he too has faced his share of challenges. “I went from a phase when I did not know what to do, to a phase when I decided I wanted to become an actor but did not know how to go about it,” he says. That’s not the only thing he has in common with the character. “I was never interested in books. or even distant education. And like him I too love to hang around with my friends, party, and go for long drives.”
Despite their similarities, the actor confesses he has problems with the character’s attitude. “I hate the fact that he is way too lazy. Whereas I am always in a hurry to do things.”
In the film, Sid’s character is romantically involved with an older woman. Would Ranbir go in for a similar relationship in real life? “I believe love has nothing to do with age. I would love to be with a girl who is amazingly bright, beautiful and knows a lot about life. Relationships are not about age or maturity, they’re about love,” says Ranbir, who was at PVR Blu-O to promote his film.
