KKR buys 15-20% stake in Dalmia Cement

KKR-Dalmia-CementThe US-based private equity firm, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) has announced that it is going to invest Rs 750 crore in the de-merged cement entity of Dalmia Cement, Avnija. In an official announcement, the Kohlberg Kravis Roberts has declared that it will purchase a 15-20% stake in this entity.

It has been expected that, Dalmia Cement will also have an official announcement on this in the capital today. Dalmia Cement is one of the leading cement producers of the country with a net worth of around Rs 2,000-crore.

Earlier in March of this year the company had declared spinning off its cement, power and refractory businesses. He had also informed to be listed in the stock exchange by the end of this year.

But now the company is anticipating a huge demand of cement as the government is looking forward for some infrastructure projects, road networks and housing facilities. The company will have a 70% share in the total revenue. In South India, it is the second largest player with a capacity of 9 million tonnes.
