Mahindra aims for second slot in mini-truck market
After making its presence felt in various segment across the automotive industry, the tractor-maker, Mahindra & Mahindra is now aiming for a 2nd slot in the mini-truck in the Indian market.
The company is aiming for gold in the segment banking on the high expectations from its recently launched product, Maxximo. The mini stylish truck for the Indian consumer will be competing in the mini-truck segment which is primarily dominated by Tata Motors' Ace followed by products like Piaggio's Ape with Hindustan Motors owning a small market share.
The experts believe that the mini-truck market witnessed a growth of more than 30 per cent from less than 1 lakh units in FY10. Moreover, the experts are certain that the growth outlook for the current year is going to be similar to the last fiscal with the unit sales touching the 1.6 lakh mark.
With the total market pegged at around Rs 3,900 crore, the segment is expected to bring-in rich dividends for the tractor-maker in the Indian market. Notably, the response from the north and western regions has been overwhelming and the company is aiming a similar growth from the Eastern and the southern regions.
