Malaysian police nab Iranian duo in drug bust Kuala Lumpur  - Malaysian police arrested two Iranian nationals on charges of possessing 4 kilograms of methamphetamines worth about 1 million ringgit (285,714 dollars), reports said Tuesday.

The suspects, a man aged 43 and a woman aged 33, were detained early Monday at a hotel room in the Selangor state after police found the drugs concealed in luggage, the Star daily reported.

Police also seized 5,000 ringgit (1,429 dollars) and 2,000 dollars along with some Iranian currency, the report added.

"The drugs were brought in by the woman who just arrived at the KL International Airport from Dubai two hours earlier," state narcotics deputy chief Abdul Razak Mohamad Zin said.

He added that female suspect had entered Malaysia as a tourist six times this year while her male accomplice had been working in the country for the past three years.

Abdul Razak said both suspects were remanded during investigation.

Malaysia has a mandatory death sentence for those found guilty of trafficking in most types of drugs. (dpa)
