Wellington  - New Zealander Wade Churchward, 28, was in the wrong queue when he offered his 12-gram marijuana stash in payment for a bag of potato chips and lollies at a service station because he did not have any money - a cop was next in line behind him.

He arrested Churchward and took him out to the police car a colleague was filling with petrol, the Dominion Post reported on Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty to possessing an illegal drug when he appeared in court at Masterton on Monday and was remanded on bail for sentence on July 3. (dpa)
